Hygiene Rating has been initiated by FSSAI with intent of ensuring that consumers make informed choices while eating out and also encouraging food businesses to showcase and improve their food hygiene standards. The hygiene rating audits are conducted as per norms laid by FSSAI and as prescribed by Quality Council of India (QCI).
Importance of Hygiene Rating Auditing:
- It gives an extensive inspection of a food establishment
- It assesses the facility’s adherence to food hygiene and safety standards
- It helps instill a feeling of safety and trust in consumers’ minds
- It helps food establishments find and improve gaps in the hygiene practices
Information about HRAA Auditing:
- Only FSSAI-recognized agencies are permitted to conduct audits
- HRAA audits are applicable to food service establishments, sweet shops, bakeries and meat retail stores

Getting Workplace Kitchens/Cafeterias/Canteens audited and certified under the Eat Right Campus Initiative will provide unique opportunities to a workplace to showcase their efforts around employee health and well-being. This will also help in setting examples for the rest of the industry about noble practices that need to be followed by corporates for employee engagement and well-being.
Any FSSAI licensed institution with defined premises and food handling activities managed by the campus establishment and/or run by third parties can apply to become a certified Eat Right Campus.
